The Ellingsens
Learn more about our story
Aaron Ellingsen returned to Cortes to found Ellingsen Woods in 2016 with a plan to contribute to the creation of a modern, working, small-scale, value-added forestry products industry for Cortes Island. Nothing could have prepared him for the next 7 years. In 2019 his wife Jeramie entered into the project bringing with her a multidisciplinary background. Together they have been working to reimagine Family Forestry in British Columbia. The process has not been linear.

About Us
ELLINGSEN is a family-run sawmill founded in 2016. Our companies' forest lands and sawmill operation are located on beautiful Cortes Island, BC within the unceded, ancestral territories of the toq qaymɩxʷ (Klahoose), ɬəʔamɛn qaymɩxʷ (Tla’amin), ʔop qaymɩxʷ (Homalco) Nations.
ELLINGSEN WOODS is a 70-acre parcel of forest land owned by the Ellingsen Family on Cortes Island. Our sawmill, spa, and glamping ground are located on a portion of the property. The rest of the land is gorgeous second-growth forest and we are working to develop trails and moments in the woods for our guests to enjoy.
